Memory of Alicja Ułaszewska
From the needs of the heart, 3 months from the last farewell on 01/03/2025, we must write these few words about the author of the paintings of this gallery. On February 25, 2025, at 6:00 in the morning in our home, after a serious illness, equipped with holy sacraments, Alicja Ułaszewska, our late, died during sleep. Beloved wife and mother of three adult children: Piotr, Marta and Lidia.
Alicja - daughter of Janina and Stanisław Kromp (came from Ternopil) was born on September 22, 1950 in Bytom, in a family with strong military and patriotic traditions. Her grandfather cavalryman took part in the Polish -Bolshevik war 1920, father of the senior sergeant during the second century St. He was a radio station in the 3rd Tank Brigade, in the 1st Armored Corps. On the other hand, uncle Zbigniew, after leaving the Second Army of the Polish Army and re -joining the Home Army, was a steadfast soldier. It happened so and it has the dimension of a real symbol for us that the farewell ceremony fell on March 1, 2025, on the National Day of Remembrance about Cursed Soldiers - Steadfast. Alicja for us She was also a brave and steadfast woman and, as they say, she was "a classy woman"As an exemplary wife and mother, she gave birth to 3 children and raised them in difficult conditions of the Polish People's Republic, she worked very hard for her family and homeland, she was able to tastefully take care of the house, her and children appearance, and the words God honor and homeland were the sudden value for her.
Ala during biological studies at the University of Wrocław, in the years 1969–1970 she gave me a gift of friendship and love, which resulted in a civil and sacramental relationship in 1971 and for that I am very grateful to her. We broadcast and received almost on the same waves because we were connected by similar values and interests on both biology, painting, music, the history of Poland of the 20th century and traveling around the world, we discussed many different topics that were never lacking in the reality around us. After graduating from Master's Biological Studies at the CIS, she did a specialization in microbiology and worked in a pension in the microbiological laboratory of the railway health service, with a 4-year break of unpaid leave, when she and the children accompanied me during my scientific internship at UCl Louvain-La-Neuve in Belgium. Already as a pensioner, she studied English and Spanish, she was still full of energy and optimism, which was involved in the whole family. Ala was very ambitious and stubborn in many different matters, also in pursuit of the goal, which can be considered as an advantage and a defect. Luckily, we were able to visit many countries in the world, including USA, Peru and India and most European countries. She consistently realized her interests and aged with dignity, which, moreover, can be seen beautifully in the attached photo (the first on the right), which was taken in December 2024, during Christmas.
Every day, Ala was a very modest, extremely polite and tolerant, open and kind to other people. As a result, it results in numerous acquaintances in the country and abroad to this day, which was allowed by her good, active knowledge of French. She did not despise anyone and respect every person regardless of social origin and nationality, always ready for selfless help and sacrifices. Ala liked flowers and animals very much, which is why thanks to her in our modest house with a terrace and a garden, in which we live for 25 years, there have always been and still have many different species of plants and a lot of our cats and strangers. She carefully looked after them and systematically fed 3x a day. We have been a witness many times when this whole cat's sad bunch, walked her to the Garden gate and greeted her happily when she returned home. We are convinced that the love of animals, nature and all life forms was the main reason that she chose biological studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Wrocław. It is worth emphasizing that she performed the diploma thesis in the Department of Animal Physiology under the direction of Dr. Docent Edward Zubik, a wonderful man (member of Wydzieżak), who worked before the war at the famous Institute of prof. R. Weigl, and during the war he was a soldier and AK courier between Lviv and Warsaw, he delivered a vaccine against typhus to the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw, including prof. Ludwik Hirszfeld. At his request, thanks to my initiative of the director of Igim U.WR., the lecture hall at the Institute of Genetics and Microbiology was named them. Rudolf Weigl. However, at my request, Ala painted a portrait of a patron, which is placed on the wall, on the right side of the lecture hall, the portrait is also visible in this gallery. Ala also had a different education path to choose from, i.e. undertaking artistic studies because she was endowed with exceptional artistic talent-painting, which she implemented in her free time, painting with oil paints portraits (most are friends from UCL in Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium). In addition, patriotic, battle scenes from the history of the Legions and abstract paintings, which she managed to give many friends. We strongly believe that now he has a lot of free time and paints his abstract images in a different dimension and space invisible to us ...
Following an old Polish custom, we wish you God's blessing!
And thank you for the virtual visit to the Alisalfa Gallery!
